Lac du Bonnet is a wonderful community located in the hub of activity in eastern Manitoba along the Winnipeg River, a quick one hour drive from Winnipeg, our provincial capital. Our town provides an environment where we promote the foundation of the family. 2025 Housing Report Summary

Based on a survey of 192 residents, the report confirms Lac du Bonnet is a stable, growing community with increasing housing demand over the next 1–6 years. Homeownership dominates at 86.7%, with most households seeking three-bedroom homes in affordable, mid-price ranges. By 2031, the population is projected to exceed 5,100 residents. The report identifies a clear need for a broader mix of housing types including affordable homes, senior-focused housing, and innovative development approaches.

Council Meeting Dates

Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at the RM Council Chambers, #4187 - PR 317, Lac du Bonnet. Meetings are open to the public. Agendas are posted prior to each meeting and minutes are published following council approval.

Methods of Payment & Electronic Billing

E-Billing — Go Paperless!

Sign up for e-billing to receive utility bills, receipts, and tax receipts via email. Complete the E-Consent Form and return it to the Municipal Office or email it to finance@lacdubonnet.com. Promotional contest: Sign up before May 31, 2026 to be entered to win a $150.00 credit towards your Utility Bill!

Payment Options

At the Municipal Office

Cash, debit, cheque or money order at #4187 - PR 317, Lac du Bonnet. Make cheques payable to the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet with your roll number.

By Mail

P.O. Box 100, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0. Post-dated cheques are accepted. A mail slot is available at the municipal office for after-hours payments.

Telpay Online

Set up the RM as a payee through your financial institution. Search "LAC DU BONNET" — separate payees for property taxes and utilities. Most institutions take 2-4 business days to process.

E-Transfer

Send to rmldb@lacdubonnet.com. Passwords: tax2026 (taxes), utility2026 (utilities), ldbrecreation (recreation).

Important Note

Payments by cheque or online banking are processed on the day received or deposited — not the date on the cheque or the date of online payment. Allow 3–5 business days for online payments to avoid late fees.

Tax Information

The 2025 property tax payment deadline is September 22nd, 2025. Tax statements are mailed out a minimum of 30 days prior to the due date each year. Penalties of 1.25% per month are added to any outstanding taxes on the first of every month.

Property taxes are calculated by multiplying the Mill Rate and your Portioned Assessment:

2025 Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit

The Government of Manitoba introduced the Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit (HATC) of up to $1,500 on the education portion of property taxes. This credit replaces the School Tax Rebate and Education Property Tax Credit for residential properties designated as principal residences. Farm properties continue to receive the Manitoba School Tax Rebate at 50%. Both credits are applied directly on municipal property tax statements — rebate cheques will no longer be mailed.
